Buyouts, redemption and merges

In short

Anyone can buy the whole item at a set floor price, and holders get the cash. Whoever owns all the coins can take the real item home. Quiet coins can be folded into a basket by vote.

How a coin can end, and how quiet coins keep earning.

Words used on this page
  • Market cap: the price of one coin times all the coins, so the total value of the coin.
  • Devnet: Solana's test network. Coins there have no real value.
  • Vesting: coins that unlock bit by bit over time instead of all at once.
  • Appraisal: an expert's written estimate of what an item is worth.
  • Buyout: someone buys the whole item, and holders get paid in cash.
Think of it like: a takeover. If someone buys the whole company, shareholders get paid at the offer price.

Buyout floor

Anyone can buy the whole item for the higher of its appraisal or the coin's 30-day average market cap. The cash goes to holders, and their coins are burned.

Redemption

Whoever holds 100% of the coins can redeem the real item (they pay shipping, transfer and taxes).

Real estate

Selling a property needs a 66% holder vote, or any offer at 1.5x the floor passes automatically.

Merge votes

If a coin goes quiet (90 days, or under $500 of trading), holders can vote to fold it into a basket. It needs 20% of coins voting and a majority yes. Holders swap at backing value.
